We aim to compare two different approaches named hand-craft feature method and convolutional neural network CNN based deep learning method. Im looking for a suitable image dataset to train an SVM a CNN and possibly an MLP as classifiers and to compare the results. Feature extraction is done using CNN and SVM acts as a recognizer. Typically this is a fully-connected neural network but Im not sure why SVMs arent used here given that they tend to be stronger than a two-layer neural network.
